Happy Holidays

Well, here they are again.  That glorious trio of events Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years!!! Wow. I am excited and looking forward to the many wonders that come along with the holidays.

Happy Birthday to all of the December Folks.

This is probably my last blog.  I say probably because I have enjoyed bringing you my take on the food stuff of my life.  I think that I might want to blog again in the future. We will see.

This election marked the start of something new and different.  I know a lot of us are concerned by the thought of  what may lie ahead.  Change is often unnerving. We don’t know what we will be facing in the next few years.  What new challenges we will have to work to overcome?

What we do know is that we are stronger together when we speak as one unified voice then we will ever be alone.  It may be, that we will need to speak up loudly for the issues that are important to us as a nation and stand up together, united, for what is right.  Only time will tell what will be.  In the meantime…..we have……even more reason to “stop and smell the roses.”

Happy Holidays!!!

I could go on but you get where I am coming from…..right?  A picture really is worth a thousand words.  Here’s to a future full of  fabulous foods and  flavorful adventures.

Do Over

Yes, Red Lobster recently got a do over.  That is, I decided to try them again (do over) after I had a really bad experience with them in the recent past.  The short story is that a couple of friends and I went there for dinner a few months ago and were all very disappointed with the quality of the food.  So much so, that we decided to never go back again.  So, why did I go back this time.  Well, a different friend recently lost a loved one and that is where she wanted to go to have a drink and little something to eat and talk.  How could I say no?

So, I went….. reluctantly. And yes….I had the Ultimate Feast and it was a feast (pictured below).  I exchanged the broccoli for the baked sweet potato with pecans because I started with the garden salad with blue cheese dressing.  Great picks!!! Surprise, surprise as it turns out Red Lobster has improved on the quality of the food.  It was back to the standard that I remembered.  Fresh seafood, tender, sweet and delicious!

Wish I could same the same for the Cheddar Bay Biscuits…..they were smaller than I remember and they contained less flavor.  Hey….. Red Lobster….get it together some of us show up just for the biscuits…lol!

Yes, I stayed for the meal.  They got a do over and they did great.  They are back on my list of places to hang out.  My friend…she is all good….thanks for asking!

Happy November Birthdays

To all of the November people celebrating this month…..Happy, Happy!!!  Get it in and go for it.  You November folks have immense quality and talent for success.  You are often described as very sensual in nature. Your beautiful physical appearance is an added advantage and your attractive nature make you someone to check for.

People born in November have magnetic personalities. Some say that they are very appealing and attractive. And that they are very magnetic in personality.  So, all of you November people should keep this in mind.  Especially you my friend.  I wrote this for a dear friend that just needed a gentle reminder of how special she is and how much she has to offer the world.  So, get out there and conquer.

Enjoy your month of celebration!!!

Is This Photoshop or What?

fiji-copy-copy

Well….yes…it is!!!  This is my Photoshop project for class.  I really enjoyed working with Photoshop.  Photoshop offers many different ways to manipulate photos and allows for great creativity.

In the above picture, I added the two water bottles in the front to the picture.  To do that, I had to use two separate photos. It was difficult, at first, until I understood the process.  Then, it was just a matter of studying my hand while I traced the picture with the lasso tool. Next,  I cropped out the picture and move it to the other picture.

More time…..much more time with Photoshop is what I would love to have…..one day for sure!!!  Oh….check out the straw in the middle of the bottle.  It is from Fijiwater.com/extras .  Fiji makes their own straws for their bottles. Check it out.

Have a Safe and Fun Halloween

I remember how much fun it was to go trick or treating with my family and friends on tortHalloween.  We would go all over the neighborhood and collect goodies. We would have everything from apples to carrots and, of course, loads of candy. I can only image that it is even more fun these days.  What with so mhalcandyany great costumes and accessories to select from or make yourself.   Not to mention, that there are tons more candy types to be had.  There will be trick or treaters of all ages and sizes out enjoying the night.   So, let ushalkids remember to keep them safe from harm by:

  • Planning the route in advance
  • Making sure mask don’t block their vision
  •  Having them wear something that glows in the dark
  • Avoiding tripping hazards…keep costumes short
  • Checking their goodie bags

Swanky!!!

The Revenue Department recently hosted the 3rd Annual “25 Years of Employment Luncheon” which also included 30 and 35 year honorees. This years midday soiree was held at the Pyramid Club, 1735 Market st, 52 Floor.  The view was breathtaking.  The club is sophisticated even with the “Buffet Style” service we enjoyed. The tables were completely set and our salads placed and waiting for us on our arrival.  The wait staff breezed around us clearing plates and filling glasses. The food pictured here was delightfully delicious.

The event is held each year to recognize members of the department that have achieved work history of a quarter of a century and beyond.  There were 19 honorees present.  They represented more than 500 years (collective) of service and knowledge.  With 26 years, already in the department (and counting), I  was both pleased and honored to be in attendance.

Family Night…Boom!!!

Let me show you some really delicious foods samplings from one of our favorite restaurants.  At the Grand Lux Cafe, King of Prussia,  you will find a menu  full of internationally inspired foods.

From the top left: Shrimp Scampi, Blue Cheese Chop Salad,  Lemon Chicken Piccata. Bottom left: Volcano Shrimp and Cedar Planked BBQ  Salmon.  Other treats not pictured above included Braised Pot Roast and several rounds of Asian Short Rib Tacos all contributed to a fun-filled family outing.   We always sample each others meals so we know how everything taste…..good….great….delicious!!!  The drinks ranged from Margaritas to Raspberry Iced Tea. Great time for everyone.  Go try it out when you have the opportunity.
